Come and play with Clay!

Explore this relaxing and absorbing material in my lovely studio at designermakers21 a studio collective of 12 practicing artists in Diss, Norfolk.

 I offer both wheel-throwing and hand-building workshops at the studio, and can tailor sessions to all levels of experience. Classes are kept small to allow lots of one-to-one attention, and plenty of time for making. All workshops are suitable for complete beginners, and you don’t need to bring anything with you. Aprons are available at the studio, but it is always best to wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy.

Workshops run on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. If you have a specific date in mind please get in touch, and I will do my best to accommodate this. If you are attending a workshop on a Friday or Saturday designermakers21 will be open to the public, and you are very welcome to explore the studios before, or after your workshop - there is a lot to see!

Tea/Coffee and biscuits are provided, and there will be a break for lunch during full day workshops - Diss has a lovely range of independent cafes & bakeries a short walk from the studio, or you can bring along a packed lunch. There is no parking available at the studio, if you are travelling by car I recommend parking in the Diss Heritage Triangle Car Park, Shelfhanger Rd, IP22 4EN. Travelling by train, the studio is a 20 minute walk from Diss station.

2.5hr Taster Session - One to One £75

2.5hr Taster Session - Two People £65 pp

Full Day Workshop - One to One 10am-4pm £150

Full Day Workshop - Two People 10am-4pm £130 pp

Try your hand at the potter’s wheel! Learn how to prepare the clay, before being guided through the process of throwing a pot. Have a go at making cup, bowl and vase shapes. In the full day workshop there will be the opportunity to add handles to your pieces. You can use as much clay as you like during the workshop, but the price includes your favourite 3 pots in a taster session, and up to 6 pots in a full day workshop.

Slab Building & Mark-Making Workshop for up to 3 people

2.5hr Taster Session - One to One £75

Full Day Workshop - One to One 10am-4pm £150

Explore slab-building processes to make a vase or dish. Add colour and pattern to your pieces using a range of decorating techniques. In the full day workshop, there will be the opportunity to create two pieces using both press mould and constructed slab methods.

Parent/Carer and Child Wheel-Thrown Pottery Workshop – 2hr Session £60

Try your hand at the potter’s wheel! Learn how to prepare the clay, and have a go at making cup and bowl shapes. During the workshop you can use as much clay as you like, but the price includes ONE pot per person. Add colour to your favourite pot, which will be fired and glazed! This workshop can be attended by one adult/one child or two children with an accompanying adult. Suitable for children aged 8-12.
